The Democratic Republic of Congo is a very large country with incredible natural resources. Unfortunately, it has been through many phases of leadership which have taken the natural resources to benefit the privileged. War in the 1990's has set the country back even further so that it's now worse off than it was 30 years ago. The area we are working in is Equateur Province, located in the northwest corner of DR Congo. Paul Noren has been working in DR Congo for over 40 years in agriculture development as well as in aquaculture. He worked extensively on aquaculture development from mid-1980's-early 1990's. There are now over 26,000 fish ponds in Equateur Province and over 700 fish farmer associations. Our hope is to help these farmers be more successful and increase the yields from their fish ponds.
